However, you must consider exploring the dusty narrow paths also early in the morning or late afternoon when the temperature is cooler. The trek can take up to 2 hours, and the path can be steep, so it&#8217;s important to wear comfortable shoes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Also, consider that the canyon overall is unguarded and quite dangerous in some parts. Nevertheless, some brave adventurers make it to the top and last part of the passages. We suggest checking out the Yellow Sun Bar, as it is one of the most popular spots for enjoying a cold beer while listening to live music. The bar offers a laid-back atmosphere and is a perfect place to meet locals and fellow travellers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" data-block-type=\"core\"><strong>Incredible things to do in Pai<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" data-block-type=\"core\"><strong>Enjoy the view from Wat Phra That Mae Yen | Pai white Buddha<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We headed to Wat Phra That Mae Yen at sunset, as it was indicated by many as one of the <strong>best things to do in Pai.<\/strong> There were few people when we arrived, and we could sit at the top of the hundreds of steps to wait for the right time. People were well organised with drinks, snacks and some beers. Everyone was respectful (well, except for some). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After all, this is a worship place and shrine\/temple, so you must take off your shoes before arriving at the top, not talk loud, and show respect.<strong> It is free to visit Pai White Buddha, but to get to the top; you need a powerful scooter as the road is quite steep.<\/strong> We made it happen even with a very slow scoopy. The temple is famous because it has the perfect view of the sunset, which lies down the mountains. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Also, at the top, there is a white Buddha visible from miles away, which is kind of a symbol of Pai itself. We spent a whole morning soaking in the <strong>thermal water of <a href=\"https:\/\/italiantripabroad.it\/Blog\/sai-ngam-hot-spring-pai\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"27015\">Sai Ngam<\/a> and felt rejuvenated<\/strong>. The famous pools with natural hot water are open all year round. <strong>You pay about 300 THB per person<\/strong><em> <\/em>and 20 TBH per scooter to get access to hot springs that are open all year round.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We suggest reaching these pools on your own only if you have a powerful scooter and are an experienced driver. The roads to reach the pools are evenly bumpy, with many turns up and down and steep hills. The owners are friendly, and you can make use of the second-floor seats after a purchase of a drink. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Even though it is one of the <strong>most instagrammable places in Pai<\/strong>, we found it with just a few people. The atmosphere and the views are fantastic and unmissable while in Pai. Most of the travellers exploring Pai, skip this Buddhist temple, because overwhelmed by the many things to do in Pai. The fantastic, not so big temple feature fantastic statues and fine details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>You will spend about half an hour roaming around the alleys, enjoying the landscape.<\/strong> Do not confuse Big Buddha with the white Buddah, as are two different temples.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" data-block-type=\"core\"><strong>Stay in a three-house or Bungalow and enjoy the nature<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the things we most love about Pai is the nature surrounding you. The little town is narrowed between hills and mountains. Lush green is the only colour you will see for the whole time, and this is part of the retreat you might want to visit Pai.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bungalows seem to be the <strong>most convenient way to stay in Pai.<\/strong> The costs for accommodation can skyrocket during the dry season, but you might be lucky to find some cheap accommodation still in the centre. It is what happened to us; trying to stay on a budget, we found Villa de Pai, and it was well worth our money.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The accommodation is a short distance from the centre and a walking street, so you will not necessarily need a scooter to go around. Also, consider that even in the centre it was hushed and we could sleep well at night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" data-block-type=\"core\"><strong>Best time to visit Pai, Thailand<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The high season in Pai occurs from November to February when the weather is cool and dry. This is the peak tourist season, and Pai can get quite busy during this time. Even if the temperature in the high season reaches 30 degrees, at night, you might still want a light jacket. Instead, if you want to visit Pai with fewer tourists around and cooler temperatures, look no further than the shoulder season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From November to February when the weather is cool and dry. Alternatively, you can rent a car and drive to Pai, which takes around four hours and is a scenic route through the mountains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" data-block-type=\"core\"><strong>How long should you spend in Pai?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We spent four days in Pai and made it as a middle point between <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/italiantripabroad.it\/Blog\/chiang-mai-vs-chiang-rai\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"25280\"><span style=\"color: var(--stk-global-color-27229, #003f48);background: linear-gradient(to bottom, transparent 50%, var(--stk-global-color-34292, #c5e1e7) 50%)\" class=\"stk-highlight\">Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai<\/span><\/a><\/strong> before crossing the border between Thailand and Laos. You can easily spend a week in Pai, as the town has it all. The atmosphere up in the mountain is very laid-back. <br><br><em>It&#8217;s common to visit pay, fall in love with it and stay longer.<\/em> However, we recommend spending at least two to around on the first and second days, we rented the scooter. Pai is a small town, and getting around is relatively easy. However, <strong>renting a scooter allows you to explore the town at your own pace<\/strong>, visit nearby attractions such as waterfalls and hot springs, and travel to other towns in the area. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Scooter rentals can be found all over town, and the cost varies depending on the type of bike and duration of the rental. <strong>Be careful with scammers, as many shops tend to give you very bad mopeds, which might be a huge risk for you.<\/strong> Often there are better options than the best price. We don&#8217;t have a great suggestion about which shop you should rent a bike from, but you will find many rental places around the centre. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you are spending <strong>more time in Pai<\/strong>, definitely the bike is a great idea to stay around Pai. You will explore the area at a slower pace. Additionally, we love bicycles because they are an eco-friendly and affordable option for travellers on a budget.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" data-block-type=\"core\"><strong>Shared Transport in Pai<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Like in <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/italiantripabroad.it\/Blog\/chiang-mai-itinerary-3-days\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"26789\"><span style=\"color: var(--stk-global-color-27229, #003f48);background: linear-gradient(to bottom, transparent 50%, var(--stk-global-color-27309, #cce5ea) 50%)\" class=\"stk-highlight\">Chiang Mai<\/span><\/a><\/strong>, you can hail in the street the popular Songthaews. Again, prices are generally affordable, and you can negotiate with the driver for a lower rate.
