Although it was a hot day like no other in Bangkok, we loved shooting around Wat Arun, especially around sunset. The colours and light are just perfect for pictures. Make sure you explore the temple itself, as it’s incredible. Once you’re inside, you will understand why we love this place so much; although it is touristy, you will need a bit of creativity to get your shots.
We must say that travelling around the country, we have seen many temples, and it might be the river passing by or the lights at sunset. Still, Wat Arun is one of the most impressive temples in Thailand and one of the most instagrammable places in Thailand.

Considered one of the most important attractions in Bangkok, the Grand Palace is an impressive complex located in the heart of the city. Being a must-see sight in Bangkok, the Grand Palace is always busy. Our accommodation was close by, and we managed to arrive around 9 AM, although there were already 4 buses full of local tourists waiting for the opening.
Despite being a popular attraction, the Grand Palace is one of the most instagrammable places in Bangkok, and you need to visit it. Built-in 1782 by Kind Rama 1, the Palace served as a royal residence for 100 years for the royal family. The palace within the complex and the wonderful temple of the Emerald Buddha. Built during the Ayutthaya period around 1700, the Golden Mount Temple offers a really nice view of Bangkok.

Locals love to celebrate weddings in this temple; in fact, the first time we visited, there was a function going on.

Known as the Dragon Temple for a reason, Wat Sampran is located only 1 hour away from Bangkok’s city centre. The pink tower goes up in the sky for 80 metres, within 17 floors. A beautiful green dragon surrounds the whole spiral, this unique building is one of the most famous sights in Bangkok, and you can miss it!

The architecture is similar to other temples within the city; however, the gold colours give their best at sunset. You can visit the temple inside the Royal Palace, which is free to enter. Be mindful that there is a strict dress code to access the area; if you are not complying, they will not allow you in. We had to return the next day as nobody had warned us about that. Dress modestly and with the entire body covered, also for men.
Wat Phra Kaew is one of the most inspiring places and for sure among the most Instagram-worthy places in Bangkok. Also, be aware of the scammer outside the Gran Palace, inducing you not to visit the site, saying it is closed. Walk straight and always check on your own, don’t fool them.

We realised that the Train Night Market Ratchada is more a local place where you can find delicious food and even cute clothes to buy.
We loved spending our evening in this market as it was a unique way to explore Bangkok. While in the Ratchada night market, we got some adorable shots.
Flower Market
As soon as I heard about this flower market, I did everything to reach it. The last time we’ve been to a flower market was back home in London, and I remember we had such a great time shooting around. This time was no different. Just a little bit more quirky. The Pak Khlong Flower Market is a pure floral heaven.
You will see local shops with some of the best flower decorations ever. Thanks to their cute composition, you will get many spots for your Instagram pictures. If you want to make the most of it and don’t stress out, try to reach the flower market in the morning when the temperature is still acceptable. Just in front of the flower market, you can enter an authentic street in Bangkok, roaming around the vegetable market. I will say this was quite an experience to get some pretty street photos of local life.
Nakhon Pathom Night Market | Wat Sampran Dragon Market
The fantastic atmosphere around Wat Samphran will take you away. The temple is located 40 Kilometers away from Bangkok city, within the province of Nakhon Pathom. About 25 Kilometres from the temple, you will experience one of the most lively markets in the Province of Bangkok. This is one of the most off the beaten path activities in Bangkok, as it is not within the “city walls”.
If you are looking for something alternative, you can visit the market from 5 PM to 9 PM and eat for a fraction of the price. We know Bangkok and Asia are already extremely cheap by western standards but believe us; you can see how low the prices are away from big cities. It might not be as instagrammable as other sightseeing of Thailand’s Capital, but you will get to the next level of Bangkok street photography.

The area used to be more local, with vendors trading goods on boats. Nowadays, you will find more tourists and fewer bargains, so just vendors selling souvenirs. I still remember when our friend sent us a picture of this place. It was unreal, so we visited the Unicorn Cafe in Bangkok. The entire place is themed with unicorns and is an excellent location if you wish to take pictures; plus, you can rent a unicorn onsite! I know, it’s super cool and funny, but you must experience it.

Best time to visit Bangkok
Bangkok is a destination that can be visited at any time of the year. However, you need to be careful when planning your trip. During the hot season, the temperature can reach 40 degrees, and walking around during the day is not advisable.
Therefore, the best time to visit Bangkok is between November and February, considered “cool months”, where the temperature can drop around 22-25 degrees in the evening. Don’t miss this information while organising your next trip to Thailand. For many travellers, Bangkok is the first city arriving in the country, and you will not enjoy it when it rains as much as during the dry season. Bangkok has some of the best Thailand Instagram spots, and some are close to the public during the monsoon season.

Nowadays, travelling to Thailand has become really easy. If you hold an EU, UK, or US passport, you don’t need a visa to enter.
You can get a visa on arrival; however, this is subject to a few restrictions. To be eligible for the visa on arrival, you must have proof of an outbound flight from Thailand. We proved that we were going to cross the border with Laos from Chiang Rai and showed the accommodation, and Singapore Airlines accepted it.
As of today, the visa on arrival is for 30 days; however, if you wish to stay longer, you can extend the visa, which will cost you around $30. Don’t forget to bring some passport pictures with you as you will need them.
The majority of the shops and markets accept only cash
If it’s your first time in Thailand, you should know that most shops and markets only accept cash. To be safe, we suggest you withdraw the maximum amount at the ATM. In this way, you will pay the fees only once. Usually, the fee is around 220 TBH.
TIPS | The local shop, 7-Eleven, accept cards, and there is no minimum payment required. You might find other places accepting cards; however, they sometimes charge 3% extras.
It’s better to have a SIM card before travelling to Thailand

You can keep the SIM Card, you don’t need to return it. If you’re staying longer in Thailand, you can keep the same SIM card and top up with the credit.
