Where is Sai Ngam Hot Spring?
Sai Ngam Hot Spring is located about 17 km north of Pai Town. In fact, it is easy to reach the natural pools from the centre of Pai in about a 25-minute drive. Even though the best way is to rent a scooter, several taxis and Songthoew can take you there for a reasonable price.

How to get to Sai Ngam Hot Spring?
We reached Sai Ngam Hot Springs on a scooter, a renter in Pai town. Our rental price was higher because we visited northern Thailand in the high season, so we paid 200 TBH per day. However, we went for a new scoopy as many scams and rental places offer very bad scooters. The typical rent for a day in Pai is about 150 Bath. Make sure you read the reviews carefully before renting. Also, renting a scooter in Pai to make sure it was powerful enough (150 cc at least); we had to walk a couple of times as it was not quite strong enough to make some slopes. Ask for your accommodation before you get to Pai; they might help you and are reliable.
As said, the easiest way to get to Sai Ngam Hot Spring Pai is by car or motorbike. From Pai, you can take the road to Mae Hong Son and look for the sign leading to Sai Ngam Hot Spring. The journey takes about 30-40 minutes, and the road is well-maintained. You can also hire a taxi or a private car from Pai, which is a more convenient option if you do not want to drive.
If you plan to rent a moped in Thailand, remember to purchase a travel insurance, which will give you more peace of mind in emergencies. If you don’t feel confident in riding a scooter through the winding turns of Pai hills, you can hail a songthaew from the town centre. What is the best time to visit Sai Ngam Hot Spring?
Even though we visited Pai during the off-season, it was pleasant to soak in thermal water while it was not so hot outside. Overall, the best time to visit Sai Ngam Hot Spring in Pai is during the cooler months, which are from November to February.
These are often referred to as the shoulder or low season in Northern Thailand; At the same time, the weather is pleasant and lets you enjoy the many activities in Pai and around; you will also enjoy the hot springs without feeling too hot or uncomfortable. This was also the time of our visit, and we can assure you that there were just a few handfuls of people.
If you are coming early in the morning, the thermal baths are frequented only by locals. However, if you prefer a warmer climate, you can visit from March to May in the summer.

There are no restaurants at Sai Ngam Hot Spring Pai
Sai Ngam Hot Spring Pai is in a rural area, and only a few food options are available near the hot springs. However, you can find several street food vendors and small restaurants in Pai Town, which is just 20 minutes away.
Sai Ngam Hot Spring price | Pai hot springs
It is easy to reach Sai Ngam Pai hot springs from town. Once arrive at the entrance of the Pai Basin Wildlife Sanctuary (the National Park), there is a checkpoint. The ticket for the entrance used to be 200 Baht, but from February 2023, it now costs 400 Baht (approx. £10 | $12 | €11) and is mandatory.
We know that the entrance ticket might be high, considering you are in Thailand, but it is well worth it and goes to maintain the National Park clean and active.
From the Checkpoint, you will drive for about 10 minutes on windy hills. Be careful, as some parts have high drops on the side. Also, consider that our scooter (A new eco-scoopy) wasn’t powerful enough to carry two of us on a steep part of the route, and Ale had to walk uphill a couple of times. In fact, on the way back, we had a ride with two tourists that had a car, and they still had problems on steep hills.
When you Arrive at the parking spot, expect to pay another 20 TBH for parking your vehicle. To swim in this fantastic wander is a total of 420 Baht per person. At the time of our visit, instead, it worked out for the two of us, just 420 TBH. Quite a lot for an attraction in Thailand, and with the new price chance, it might not be worth it anymore.
