It’s very easy to get to Palma de Mallorca from the major airports in Europe, but there are also many other routes that you should consider.

A traveller can fly into Palma de Mallorca airport, the third-largest airport in Spain. The only airport on the island is about 8 Kilometres east of Palma and has a direct connection to the city centre by bus and taxi.

The ticket from Palma de Mallorca Airport to the city centre costs only 5 euros, and you can purchase it on board. Note that they accept cash only on the bus.

Alternatively, arrive on the island by ferry. It will take about three hours to take a boat from Barcelona or Valencia to Majorca. Another way is to explore Ibiza, and from there you can get the Ferry to Mallorca for about 1-hour.

As per our experience, we suggest you stay in Mallorca for at least five days. This amount of time will give you the chance to explore the island and spend a fair time enjoying Capital Palma and its masterpieces and fine architecture.

The majestic sandstone edifice construction, begun during the reign of Jaime II, is a masterpiece of religious art.

It has three naves, including the central nave, which houses the Trinidad Chapel, which contains the bones of King Jaime II and Jaime III. Admire the façade’s attractions, such as the main door’s massive columns and the sculptures by Guillermo Sagrera on the south-facing Portal del Mirador.

In the Santisimo Chapel, see extensions by the architect Antoni Gaudí from the early twentieth century and works by the artist Miquel Barceló.

We spent most of our time in Santa Catalina while staying in Mallorca. The beautiful neighbourhood of Palma is among all others, thanks to the vibes, the lively locals, full of bars and restaurants.

This is where locals mainly spend most of their time, visiting the daily market with stalls that have been here since the 1950s; the area is minimal, made of narrow and picturesque streets.

However, at night the beautiful alleys change their face and become the most attractive area of Palma de Mallorca. The Santa Catalina neighbourhood is also known as Punta Ballena Beach.

Believe us when we say we couldn’t resist a Mallorca road trip. For such a small island is unbelievable the variety of landscapes, you will find on your way. I mean, check the opening photo to understand how beautiful the scenery is.

We also have to be honest and clarify that you will find difficult roads, narrow lanes and dead ends. However, the road trip itself is worth the ticket price.

There are many ways to go on an epic road trip to the island, and it all starts from Palma, the Capital city. First, book your car rental in advance (Check bargains here) to avoid scams. In Mallorca, car rental is reasonably priced and provides you with complete flexibility to explore.
