Vienna has been always my dream. It was a surprise birthday and we went to visit Vienna. I was so happy so I decided to share with you which are the best things and what to do in Vienna in 2 days.
Vienna is a really nice and romantic city. We can clearly assume Vienna is the perfect romantic gateway in Europe, same as for Rome, Venice or Paris. Vienna has a unique style, perfect in Summer and in Winter time.
In the beginning, we were wondering how many days is enough to see the best of Vienna. I must say in 2 days in Vienna we were able to see the best of it.
We saw all the main attractions without missing anything, but 3 days or even 4 it would be the best solutions, so you can explore more in deep this beautiful capital.
Once our flight land we were wondering how to get to the city centre and thanks to a really good video on youtube we discover the perfect way to get the train with low price ticket.
It will take just 25 minutes to arrive in the heart of a Vienna and it cost only 2,20 Euro.
What to do in Vienna in 2 days
I was always wondering when this moment would happen, and once I finally arrive in Vienna, I had no idea what to do and what to see as Toti organised everything. I was only sure about one thing:” Sisi Castle.”
Sisi Castle – Visiting Schonbrunn palace – What to do in Vienna in 2 days
Here you go, this was my dream in Vienna. Visit Sisi Castle, when I was young, I was always watching the cartoon together with my mum. So I was just waiting for this moment for a long time. This amazing palace it’s call Schonbrunn, for those who might don’t know.
The castle’s easy to reach. You can take the bus or even the tube which the closest one is Schonbrunn with the green line U4.
There are two tours which you can book: Imperial tour which it cost 14.20 euro and it included 22 rooms and the duration is approximately 30-40 minutes and then there is the Grand tour.
The Grand tour it cost 17.50 euro and it is about an hour, you will be able to explore in more deep the castle with 40 rooms.
On the tickets, it is included the audio guide, with all the languages and it will explain you the story about Sisi and the rooms.
Apart for those tickets, you can buy as well only 1 ticket ( Sisi Ticket) for 3 imperial attractions: Schönbrunn Palace, Imperial Furniture Collection, Vienna Hofburg with the Imperial Apartments, Sisi Museum and the Imperial Silver Collection
Top Tips: Inside the palace is not allowed to take any pictures and before the entrance.
You need to leave any kind of bags at the cloakroom, so don’t bring with you any camera inside because you won’t be able to use it.
You can buy the ticket there or even pre-order online, the price is the same.
Wiener Staatsoper – Vienna tours
If you are thinking about what to do in Vienna in two days you can stop by and visit the Opera. This is a huge building, located in the city centre, right behind the main shopping street.
Wiener Staatsoper is one of the leading opera houses in the world. Its past is steeped in tradition.
It is one of the most important buildings in the city. If you are going to Vienna you can’t miss this.
The Vienna Opera House has a worldwide reputation for its first-class opera performances and is also known because of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.
Hofburg – What to do in Vienna in 2 days
The Hofburg lies at the centre of Vienna and can best be reached by underground or other public transport.
The Hofburg is the former principal imperial palace of the Habsburg dynasty rulers and today serves as the official residence and workplace of the President of Austria.
If it will be your first time in Vienna you will realize how impressive it is the palace, and you can see how it shows many different architectural styles, from Gothic to Renaissance, Baroque to Rococo, and a smattering of Classicism.
Visitors are given three choices when visiting this spectacular site, the Imperial Apartments, the Sisi Museum, and Silver Collection, each of which can be toured individually or as part of an extended visit.
The admission with an audio guide for an adult is 13.90 euro, but if you prefer a tour guide instead it is available as well for the price of 16.90 euro and remember that is available in 13 languages.

Spanish Riding School
This Institute was founded in 1572. Its name was derived from the fact that the horses were of Spanish origin, this is one of the best attraction in Vienna.
The Riders of the Spanish Riding School train the horses and perform in the Winter Riding School in the Vienna Hofburg.
St. Stephen’s Cathedral – Stephansdom
The cathedral is Vienna’s most famous sights. It is the most important Gothic monument in Austria and today it’s the symbol of Vienna.
It is located in the middle of the city centre, where are all the shops and bars and if you don’t look around you, especially during the night, you won’t realize it.
It’s easy to reach you can take the underground U1 or U3, getting out at the Stephansplatz station or the bus 1A, 2A or 3A which the name of the stop is the same.
Tour the cathedral, the Treasury and climb the South Tower. You can also take a guided tour of Stephansdom, that includes the cathedral’s catacombs. The catacombs can be visited only with a guide.
The Treasury is worth it unless you are also planning to see the Imperial treasury in Hofburg. In this case, choose one of them.
